The Morning Star Company and its affiliates operate three tomato processing facilities in Central California, processing 35% to 40% of the California processing tomato crop, in addition to tomato transplanting, harvesting, and trucking operations.  The company employs approximately 450 year-round and 2,500 seasonal colleagues and annual sales of about $1 billion.

Job Description

The mission of this colleague is “to ensure the long-term success of the enterprise through support of the specialty ingredient sales business unit, providing impeccable service resulting in accurate and timely shipments of product, processing of invoices as well as the tracking, reporting and coordination of business unit stepping-stones that result in overall excellent customer satisfaction.”

Additionally, while working in a fast-paced environment the colleague will be responsible for identifying and prospecting new business, mining and analyzing market factors with the intent to understand the market and establish relationships that lead to the option to sell.

The specialty ingredient sales business unit’s mission is “to be a full service tomato ingredient supplier providing unequivocally superior services and supply-chain solution to specialty, and geographically unique customers.” The selected colleague will need to work in conjunction with sales, marketing, transportation and logistics as well as be able to work effectively independently.

 Responsibilities

  1. Receiving, entering, and tracking customer orders.

    1. Contract entry:

      1. Line items with pricing.

      2. AR Breakouts.

      3. Ship to locations per item.

    2. Order entry.

      1. Receive POs from customers and enter them in a timely manner.

      2. Verify allocation.

      3. Check credit limit and aged receivables.

      4. Invoicing.

        1. Receive BOL from warehouse and send invoice to appropriate recipients in the company.
          Check for missed invoices daily.

  2. Traffic coordination for customer accounts.

    1. Work with warehouses directly.

    2. Work with warehouses through Warehouse Coordinators.

    3. Set up shipments and follow through to delivery.

  3. Ensure product is allocated accurately.

    1. Work with relevant colleagues on where to pull order allocations from.

  4. Communicate with sales, distribution, and accounting colleagues as well as customers on orders

    then follow up as needed.

    1. Manage customer receivables and work with Finance as needed to request adjustments to terms and credit limits.

    2. Build relationships with carriers and request freight rates for customer orders.

  5. Compile, maintain, process, and prepare a variety of records and reports.

  6. Communicate with customers quickly and professionally.

  7. Approve and submit bills in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

  1. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  2. Methods and techniques for conflict resolution
  3. Fluent in English; effective written and verbal communication
